The most luxurious and expensive of the countertops you can purchase for a kitchen remodel are the stone countertops. Granite is the very top tier in the stone department. It does carry a high price tag and requires a lot of maintenance but its very popular for a kitchen remodel. Limestone is also very expensive and the biggest problem with it for a kitchen remodel is that it scratches easily.

Soapstone is a little more reasonable price wise, but is not popular for the kitchen remodel because it only comes in gray. Marble is probably not the best choice for a kitchen remodel as it stains easily and there’s really no way to get the staining out. If you are not in the kitchen often, slate may be the kitchen remodel choice for you. It is inexpensive and scratches easily, but if you hardly use it that won’t be a problem. There are also engineered faux stone countertops that are popular in kitchen remodeling. Engineered stone is durable, less expensive and very versatile in color.

Ceramic tile is a lovely look for your kitchen remodel and can be customized in thousands of ways. It’s heat resistant and easy to maintain making it a top kitchen remodel choice. It is a lot cheaper than stone but the tiles can crack easily. But the tiles are easy enough to replace if that happens.

Plastic laminate is a popular kitchen model choice with contractors just because it’s so inexpensive. There are more styles than you can count including looks that mimic stone. Maintaining the laminate requires nothing more than soap and water. It is easy to install, making it ideal for the do-it-yourself kitchen remodel. Keep in mind however that if it gets damaged, it’s nearly impossible to repair.

If you use your kitchen a lot and worry about damaging other materials butcher-block countertops may be your kitchen remodel choice. The wood looks amazing and has many different styles. The countertops can absorb bacteria so if you use it in your kitchen remodel, you will need to keep it very clean.

Concrete is the unexpected craze in kitchen remodeling. It’s the most expensive look, but with the ability to have rocks, seashells, or other objects imbedded in it for uniqueness it might be worth it for your kitchen remodel. Despite concrete usually being durable, concrete countertops are not. Keep that in mind when looking at your kitchen remodel budget.
